BOYNTON BEACH – In late June, the Boynton Hoops Ballers youth basketball team had far more hope than money.
Ranked No. 1 in Florida among fourth-grade teams under age 10 in the United States Specialty Sports Association, the irrepressible red-shirted team was invited to the USSSA national tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind. But it had raised only $1,500 toward the $10,000 needed for the July 5-8 tournament.
