The law office of Steinger, Greene & Feiner is excited to announce their sponsorship of Jimmy Dejesus in the SMART Ride. The SMART Ride kicked off in Miami on November 18th and took a route that covered roads all the way to Key West. All of the money raised during the SMART ride is donated to make a difference in the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Michael Steinger, a partner and co-founder of the firm, said that the members of the Steinger, Greene & Feiner family are passionate about giving back to the communities in South Florida. Sponsoring the SMART Rider is just a small part of that commitment. Even more exciting: Jimmy Dejesus is a member of the firm’s family.
SMART Ride
The SMART Ride began in 2003 with fewer than 100 riders. That year, everyone involved in the ride raised a total of $169,000. The goal of the ride then was to make a real difference in the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS. That goal remains to this day. Today the SMART Ride is the second largest AIDS ride in the country. It is the only ride of its size that donates 100% of its earnings.
Participants in the annual ride come from around the globe. People who donate to the cause are now totaling close to 10,000, making the Ride a tremendous success. Riders and people helping with the event range in age from 18 to 73, making it a truly all-inclusive one. Riders and crew participate for a variety of reasons, though most are involved because they have lost or know someone living with the illness.
The goals of the Ride are outlined as follows:
- Raise more money than any other similar event
- Provide people with a safe ride
- Bring awareness to the continued growth of HIV/AIDS around the world
- Help those living with the illness
- Provide an outlet for people who have lost someone to the illness
- Create memories
- Change the lives of participants and crew for the better
This year’s SMART Ride was another success. What began as a small, community effort has grown. This year’s donations totaled $1,037,140. The family at Steinger, Greene & Feiner is happy to have been able to contribute to the cause and would like to take a moment to congratulate their very own Jimmy Dejesus on a successful ride.
